Direct Support Professional (DSP)

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for providing high-quality, person-centered care and support to adults with disabilities in a home-like, community-based setting. This role emphasizes promoting independence, developing life skills, and encouraging meaningful participation in daily activities and community life.

With appropriate guidance and positive support strategies, DSPs help individuals build self-sufficiency, make informed choices, and achieve personal goals. DSPs also play a key role in fostering natural community support, enhancing personal growth, and improving overall quality of life for each person served.

 Minimum Qualifications

Education

A high school diploma or GED education or training beyond high school is preferred.

Professional Experience

A minimum of three years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.

A combination of relevant education, professional experience, and/or personal caregiving experience (e.g., CNA, PCA) may be considered in lieu of formal experience requirements.

Certifications & Training Requirements

Current certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED

Any applicable training related to the position

Proof of negative TB test results.

Ability to pass all required state and federal background checks.
